VOCATIONAL SCHOOL
Project design for a Vocational School in Mongomo (Equatorial Guinea).
The building is set on two floors.
Access to the building is from the south facade, through an elevated entrance platform with stairs and ramps. This platform leads to an exterior covered gallery that is articulated through a large central landscaped patio.
The inside is organized around a patio that provides light to both floors. The building appearance is defined by a fiber cement skin in the classrooms and an alucobond metal sheet skin in the auditorium and the workshops. These facades solve all the exterior elements of the building.
The platform leads to the ground floor of the building where, behind a huge glass facade, is located the lobby. This lobby gets light from a patio which leads the sunlight and the vegetation to the ground floor.
This space connects the classrooms, on the right side, with the administration and conference rooms, on the left side. The workshops and the restaurant, which have views over the yard, are also located on the right side of the lobby.
On the left side there is an auditorium that faces the central patio, where are located terraces which form an exterior forum.
In the northern area of the ground floor are located the theoretical classrooms.
On the first floor are located the other classrooms, the library and the workshops. There are also dressing rooms, a bathroom and a storage room for the materials of the workshops.
The roof is tilted and it is finished with roof tiles and divided by different facings which delimit the zones.
